Bad Publicity

4Chan has gained a reputation since it's inception as a place on the internet where you can find the most fucked up shit on the internet.  4Chan has become a place where people can do, say, and post things on the internet that most people wouldn't do, say, or post.  There is a hotly contested debate as to whether that well known feature of 4Chan is a positive or a negative thing.

Why Did Photos of a Strangled Woman Appear on 4Chan Before Her Body Was Found?

In this case, it's probably a negative thing.  They say that there's no such thing as bad publicity.  If it publicity that could lead to you getting shut down, then it is bad publicity.
